AKIHABARA ANIME TOUR

NOT A TOUR. A DAY OUT WITH A FRIEND WHO GETS IT.

Big group tours march you past the famous signs. This is you, a local otaku, and a route built around your fandom — the shops, floors and corners a real fan would actually take you to.

  • Planned around your favourite series before you arrive — never a fixed script
  • The real streets your favourite scenes were drawn from — ones you'd walk right past alone
  • The good floors: retro games, figures, doujin, gachapon — with the culture explained, not just pointed at
  • Small & private — your pace, your questions, your photos

HOW THE DAY GOES

THE TOUR, STEP BY STEP.

Four beats, one afternoon. No megaphone, no group of thirty — just you and a guide who knows which door to open.

Half a day Meet in Akihabara 100% private
1 Your guide meeting guests on a sunny Akihabara street

Hello in Akihabara

We find each other by the station, swap the names of the series we love, and set the day around them.

2 Guests holding a plush toy they found in an anime shop

Into anime town

Eight-floor buildings, back alleys and doors you'd never open alone. I'll read every sign for you.

3 Guests picking Kirby plush keychains off the wall of an Akihabara anime shop

Hunting for your series

Floors of figures, keychains and plush — with someone who can read every label and knows which shop has it cheaper.

4 Guests racing side by side on Mario Kart cabinets in an Akihabara arcade

Into the arcade

Racers, rhythm games and crane machines. I'll show you how the buttons work and which prizes are actually worth your coins.

GOOD TO KNOW

THE PRACTICAL BITS.

Half a day

A relaxed few hours — plenty for the highlights without rushing. Longer on request.

Meet in Akihabara

We meet by Akihabara Station, easy to reach on the Yamanote line. Exact spot sent after booking.

100% private

Every tour is yours alone — never shared with other groups. Great for solo travellers, couples, friends and families.

Bring

Comfy shoes, a coin purse, some cash for shops & gachapon, and your wishlist of series.

RATING

YOUR GUIDE & SENSEI

A TOKYO LOCAL WHO ACTUALLY WATCHES.

A Tokyo local, a professional Japanese teacher, and a genuine otaku who's watched over 1,500 series. I've spent years helping people around the world fall for Japan — first through the language online, and then in person, walking the streets of Akihabara together.

I'm not an agency and I don't outsource. When you learn or explore with me, it's actually me — planning your day, picking the shops, and geeking out over the shows we both love.

WHAT GUESTS SAY.

Real reviews from people who actually walked Akihabara with me — and from students I teach online.

★★★★★

"Yuki brought carefully chosen surprise gifts that delighted my son, a fan of survival horror games, before we headed out to a fully customized tour… My late husband worked in the anime field writing English language scripts and Yuki searched out manga versions of some of those shows, so it was especially meaningful for us. Yuki really goes above and beyond."

★★★★★

"Do yourself a favor… and IMMEDIATELY book this tour with Yuki! This was our first time in Tokyo, and my husband is a huge anime fan. Our main goal was to find the best spots for anime figurine shopping and play arcade games — and Yuki showed us the best spots around!"

S. TRIPADVISOR
★★★★★

"My 11 year old son told Yuki that his favorite Pokemon was a Magic Carp. As soon as he heard this, he quickly told us about a shop that sold taiyaki in the form of a Magic Carp… During the tour, Yuki also took several pictures and videos, and later provided these via a link which chronicled our time in Akihabara!"

"First class has left me SUPER motivated! I've been really nervous to start speaking but this was a 10/10 experience and I can't wait to book more and continue my Japanese journey with Yuuki-san!"

★★★★★

"The lesson was conversation guided, which is exactly what I need to make my Japanese far more practical. I felt very comfortable using what little Japanese I knew right from the start, and Yuuki Sensei never made me feel self-conscious about my skill level. I immediately booked more lessons!"

A.M. · 🇺🇸 ITALKI
★★★★★

"A very kind and friendly teacher, always ready to help you through questions and mistakes. The right call if you want not only a great teacher but someone to practice Japanese with while talking about otaku subculture."

BEFORE YOU BOOK

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS.

How do I book?

Right here on this page. Go to Book direct, choose how many of you are coming and pick a date — the slot is yours the moment it goes through. No agency in between: you're booking with me. Online Japanese lessons are booked at animesenseijp.com.

Do I need to speak Japanese for the tour?

Not at all. The tour is fully in English — I'm a professional Japanese teacher, so I'll translate and explain everything as we go. Want to learn a little first? That's exactly what the online lessons are for.

Is it good for beginners / first-timers in Japan?

Absolutely — most guests are visiting Japan for the first time. I'll help with everything from train cards to shop etiquette, and there's a free web guide for first-timers to get you ready.

Will we be grouped with other guests?

Never. Every single tour is 100% private — it's only your group and me, so the whole day follows your favourite series, your pace and your questions. That's a promise, whichever site you book on.

Can I come with kids or as a family?

Yes. It's private and small, so I tailor the pace and stops for families. Anime is a wonderful thing to share across generations.

What if it rains?

Akihabara is wonderfully indoor-friendly — most of the best spots are shops, arcades and buildings, so rain rarely gets in the way. If weather is severe we'll reschedule.

How do the online lessons work?

They're 1-on-1 over video call, scheduled at a time that works across time zones. Complete beginners welcome — we start from the very first character and build around the anime and goals you care about.

Where exactly do we meet?

By Akihabara Station, which is easy to reach on the Yamanote line. I'll send the exact meeting point and my contact details after you book.
